GUERILLA MARKETING
Barcode is renovating the Glendale Basketball Court on Central Avenue, 21 70th St #70, Queens, NY. Unfortunately, this court, which serves a low-income community, has been closed due to the challenges faced in obtaining the necessary resources to address maintenance issues and make necessary updates.

Barcode founder Bar Malik and the NBA Nets will host Glendale Basketball Court Madness, a grand opening event once the renovation is complete. This event will have games, giveaways of various flavors of 20 oz Barcode sports drinks with a tag card & bottle grip attached, & meet and greets. The Barcode bottle will have a tag card attached to the lid that explains the story behind the park renovation, with a CTA for people to share online with the hashtag #drinkBarcode.

Leading up to the event, local newspapers and news stations will promote it to the community and on various social media platforms. The park's closure will feature a billboard that encourages viewers to scan the barcode using their phone app, Meta Spark AR, to bring the park's 3D render to life. To generate excitement before the event, barcode-themed elements will be strategically placed throughout the urban area near the park. These elements will include crosswalks designed to resemble barcodes with the event logo and large statue bottles of the product positioned on street corners or attached to streetlights. These clever hints will ultimately lead attendees to the fully restored courts.
